MADMANS BARBECUE (Feat. Joshua & The Holy Rollers)-high.gif

With celebratory intensity, Joshua & The Holy rollers rip their dynamic, barn-burning blend of rock ‘n roll, SULTRY southern swamp, pop melodies and folky introspection as they strut, sweat, croon and headbang with smiles plastered on their faces.

Joshua & The Holy Rollers, or “JTHR” to those in the know, is the musical beast led by frontman/songwriter/guitarisT JOSHUA Mac” Hanson, whose stage presence brings to mind a friendly, if ferocious, bear. with Mac at the helm, The band finds a cozy place swinging between uptempo bangers and laid back grooves as Mac’s explorations of self and identity ring through warm melodies and the violent SWELLS of his formidable voice.

THAT VOICE SEEMS TO come with the territory of what flows through his veins; Mac SHARES THE GIFT OF VOICE WITH HIS THREE OLDER BROTHERS - veterans of the music world. growing up seeing the challenges of a life in music, in 2011 then 16-year-old Mac Hanson made the move to Los Angeles, eager to strike out on his own in some other field, but in the years since, Mac collected the salted wounds, shattered pride and hopeful heart necessary to sing a good song - and with that, eventually turned to the long-beckoning family trade: music.

IN THEIR MOST RECENT RELEASE “GRIT”, ONE HEARS A RAGING DUALITY INSIDE OF MR. HANSON - A YOUNG MAN FIGHTING TO EMBLAZON HIS MARK ON THE WORLD, AND AN OLD SOUL BECKONING ON TO SOMETHING GREATER. THE PUSH AND PULL BETWEEN THIS RAUCOUS FERVOR AND PRECOCIOUS WISDOM STRIKE A BALANCE THAT MAKES ROOM FOR HANSON’S SPECIFICITY and versatility WITHOUT GETTING TOO CAUGHT UP In A NICHE.

The music talks of heartbreak and lust, the human struggle and what we deserve, while their live show drips of joyful enthusiasm and literal sweat. The band is entertainment embodied, encouraging those in the crowd to be as happy to be there - as they are.

Before the world caught fire, Joshua & the holy Rollers proved itself a rock outfit to be reckoned with -touring actively across the US in clubs and theaters, giving their headlining acts a crowd warm as the sun, owning stages past their tenure, but never past their attitude, swagger and natural charisma.

JTHR RELEASED THEIR THIRD EP “GRIT” ON JUNE 11TH 2021 - SELF-PRODUCED BY Mac Hanson, recorded by drummer/engineer Joey LaRosa (Junaco, Kelsy Karter), mixed by Grammy-winning Omar Yakar jr (war on drugs, Sleater Kinney, perfume genius) and mastered by Andrew Mendelson of Georgetown mastering.

As one gives a listen to the melodies and rhythms set forward by this act, only one conclusion can be drawn:

Be wary of the mighty Joshua and his holy rollers.

Frontman Mac Hanson (aka Joshua Hanson) howls out the top line with a gritty surrender that is liberating. Backed by his Holy Rollers, the chorus is a massive sing along akin to the Beatles in their grunge rock phase.
